Antioch's Second Grade Students each researched a holiday for their holiday projects. They presented the information that they learned to their families and classmates, and shared traditional foods relating to their holiday. They all had a good time learning about different cultures and traditions.

Second Grade Dinosaur Project
Second grade learned about the work that paleontologists do as part of their lessons on fossils and dinosaurs. After finding all the "bones", they had to put them together. They also used computers to research a dinosaur and complete a dinosaur footprint with the information they found.

Seventh and Eighth Grades' Bridge Projects
Today the seventh and eighth grade students tested their toothpick bridges. A bucket was hooked to each bridge from below, and sand was slowly added to increase the weight supported. The students designed and built their bridges from toothpicks, popsicle sticks, and glue that had assigned costs. The goal of the project was to support the most weight with the lowest construction cost.

Rock Layers in Second Grade
Grade two has been learning about rocks, soil and other natural resources. The class used milk, butterscotch, and white chocolate chips to create sedimentary rock layers, melt and cool them for igneous, and then applied pressure and heat to change the rocks for metamorphic.
It was a delicious activity and a great way to review!
