The President's Challenge

 Physical Education teacher Mr. Frank has been preparing our students to participate in the President's Challenge. Students in First through Eighth grade have been working during P.E. class at school to complete some of the fitness activities.  This morning they finished the running portion of the the challenge.

First Grade's Luna Moth

Today Ms. Pyle's first grade students released the Luna Moth that they have been caring for and studying in their classroom.

Community Helpers in the Preschool

Students in the Preschool celebrated Community Helper Day yesterday.  Children brought in things that community helpers use, and learned from some some classroom visitors about the ways that  they work to help in our community.   

Field Trip to Lowell MA.

Antioch students in grades 2 through 8 visited the Tsongas Industrial History Center today.  Students in grades 2 - 4 learned about the history of cloth weaving.  The 5th - 8th graders learned about the ecosystem of the Merrimack River Watershed.

Kindergarten's Ladybugs

 Today the Kindergarten class released the ladybugs that they have been caring for and observing in
their classroom.

 

Arbor Day

On Wednesday, The Lions Club of Fall River, Inc, visited Antioch with a donation of trees to help us observe Arbor Day.  Each Antioch student brought home a baby blue spruce tree for planting.  Thank you to Antioch Parent and Lion Melissa Ahaesy, and the Lions Club of Fall River.

Reminder: Grandparent's Day is this Tuesday April 29th.

 The Musical Presentation begins at 9:00 AM.  Students should arrive at the First Congregational Church at 282 Rock Street at 8:00 AM.  Please plan to transport your child back to Antioch after the show, and join us for some refreshments!

Anatomy

Ms. Correia's fifth & sixth graders dissected worms on Wednesday. They taught some earthworm anatomy to grades K through 8, and finished with an anatomy test on their lab.  Up next, frogs. 

Kindergarten Bird Ornaments

Ms. Heatherly's Kindergarten students made bird ornaments today after learning about the different types of nests that birds make.

Term III Awards

 Perfect Attendance - Students that were not tardy, absent, or dismissed all third term. 

 Honor Roll - Students that maintained a B average all third term.

Principal's Award - Students than maintained an A average all third term. 

Animal Visitors

Thank you to Sally Craig  for bringing some friendly farm animals to visit our younger grades.  

Bag to School

We will again be collecting items to donate as a fundraiser.  Clothing, curtains, coats, shoes, purses, bedspreads, belts, and stuffed animals will all be accepted.  Do some spring cleaning and help out Antioch at the same time!  Bring any donations to Antioch on Friday May 9th, 2014.  Thank you!

CPR

Antioch School will be a holding a CPR Certification Class on Monday May 5th at 6:00 PM.

The cost is $30.00 per person.  If interested, visit or call the office to sign up.  508 673 6767.  

First Grade Multicultural Fair

Ms. Pyle's First Grade Students have been preparing for their multicultural fair all term.  They each chose a country from their heritage to study.  Students read books to research, and then created displays to share the information.  Families and all the other classes at Antioch were invited to visit each student's presentation and sample dishes from each country.
