Book Fair Volunteers Needed.

The Scholastic Book Fair is set up in the front hall of the school.  We need a volunteer to help with book sales from 2:30 to 3:00 each day this week and Monday next week.  Let us know in the office if you would like to help on one or more days.  The time would count as parent volunteer hours!

Lifetouch will be here on Wednesday November 2nd to take pictures of students in Kindergarten through Sixth Grade.  Preschool, and also Grades 7 & 8 photographs will be taken Thursday November 3rd.   

Preschool Notes

- The children have been doing a great job with their "Show and Tell".  Each month be sure to check the calendar for your child's turn.  It's a great language activity and a chance for each child to share something special to them with the class.

- With the colder weather on it's way, it may be a good time to check your child's extra set clothes.  They are in labeled boxes in the preschool bathroom.

Field Trip Permission Slips Are Due Now!

Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade will be visiting the Mashantucket Pequot Museum  on Friday November 4th.  The bus will be leaving Antioch at 8:30 AM.  Permission Slips for this trip are due by Friday October 28th.  

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Fall Scholastic Book Fair begins on Monday October 31.  The books will be on display and available for sale in the front hall for one week.

 

Antioch's Halloween Party

The Halloween Party is this Friday!  This spooky event takes place at Antioch School from 7PM - 9PM on Friday October 28.  Tickets are $5.00 per person, and can be purchased at the door.  All students must wear a costume!  Older students may be dropped off, but children in Preschool and Kindergarten must have a chaperone stay with them at the party.  Please sign up on the easel in the front hall for snacks and supplies for the party.  Thanks!

Preschool Notes

Bring in something for the "Alphabet Bag".  The children can bring in something in each week that begins with the letter they are learning about to put in the letter bag.  (They can bring it back home on the same day).  The children always enjoy showing their things to their classmates while it also helps in learning the letter sounds in a fun way!

Preschool Notes

There will be a sign up sheet on the preschool bulletin board for volunteer hours needed for the school.  Taking table toys home to wash and laundering the dress-up clothes are among some of the things you can do.  Let the preschool teachers know if you are interested. 

Preschool Update

On Monday October 31, the preschool will be having a Halloween Party for the children in class that day.  The class will be making Halloween headbands, so please do not bring in costumes.  If you would like to bring something in for the party, there is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board outside the classroom with suggestions of what could be used.  There will be 14 children in class that day.  If your child does not come to school on Mondays, and you would like to bring something in on another day you are welcome to do so.  There are a total of 25 children on the classroom list.  (If you need a number for a specific day, please see one of the teachers).

First Grade Update

We just finished writing our first class story, and the books should be ready to go home this week!
We are diligently practicing our Reader's Theater production of The Little Old Lady that was Not Afraid of Anything.  We will be performing this for families next Thursday, October 27th at 2:10PM.  - Ms. Pyle

Grandma's Pie Orders are Due Wednesday

This is our first year trying Grandma's pies as a fall Fundraiser.  The order forms are due back to school on Wednesday October 19th.  The frozen pies will arrive in time for Thanksgiving.

On Friday October 21, grades 3 - 7 will be visiting the Tsongas Industrial Museum.  The Bus will leave Antioch at 7:45 AM, and is expected back at approximately 2:45 - 3:00 PM.
