Antioch Students Recognized as Outstanding Artists

This year our 3-7th grade art classes participated in an art contest sponsored by Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary.  Stellwagen Bank is New England's only marine sanctuary located between Cape Ann and Cape Cod, about 25 miles off the coast of Boston.  This year the contest was entitled 'Amazing Ocean Creatures of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary'. Their artwork depicted marine life found within the sanctuary, students also had to learn the scientific name of their ocean animal and write a few sentences about the animal or their artwork.  This years contest had 726 entries from all over the country and 5 Antioch art students were recognized as having outstanding works of art.  Judges included professional artists, graphic designers, marine scientists, exhibit and public outreach specialists, government officials and other individuals familiar with sanctuary species. At the end of June, winning artwork will be posted on the sanctuary website Mrs. Carter and the entire Antioch community is so proud of the students who participated and the effort that they put into their art work.
