Ms Leal's 3rd and 4th grades participated in "The Great Boat Float" as the final activity of their ocean unit. For this experiment, the students had to "buy" materials with a "500 dollar" budget and build a boat to hold as many pennies as possible before sinking. The winning boat held 49 pennies!
After the experiment, the students had a chance to consider which designs worked, didn't work, and why. Some of them even took their boats home to rebuild them!
